Sun Chemical will show its commitment to the screen printing market with its presence at Direct Container Print 2017, from 27th to 28th November at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel in Düsseldorf, Germany.

At the two day event, Sun Chemical will showcase its SunPoly range of screen printing inks for direct printing onto plastic containers, formulated to exceed the needs of all types of direct container decoration. The SunPoly range consists of conventional and UV curing inks for all press types, suitable for a variety of end use applications including cosmetics, household, industrial and personal care items.

The SunPoly range also includes food packaging compliant UV screen inks for use on food packaging, as well as inks that can be cured on the latest presses fitted with LED curing systems.

During the event, Phil Jackman, Product Manager at Sun Chemical’s specialist global inkjet division, SunJet, will deliver a presentation on the importance of inkjet inks in direct to container applications and propose that the inkjet inks used for direct to container applications arguably have the greatest responsibility in the final products’ supply chain.

The seminar, which will take place on Monday 27th November, will take a “cradle to grave” approach and aims to look at how the inks need to interact with the print heads and print systems, but also heavily influence the image quality that is formed upon the containers. Additional requirements are often called for in food, beverage and cosmetics applications as the inks must be formulated with list-compliant materials and be able to deliver a migration-compliant solution on the final printed item. Finally, the increasing requirement to recycle many polymers used as containers means that the inks must therefore be compatible with those processes wherever possible.

Robin McMillan, Product Manager, Industrial and Graphics Europe at Sun Chemical comments: “As a leading inks manufacturer, we have a long history in the production and development of screen printing inks for direct printing of plastic containers. At Direct Container Print, both through Phil Jackman’s presentation and the networking opportunities available, we’re looking forward to demonstrating that Sun Chemical has an in-depth understanding of the complexities of the market, particularly regarding food legislation, and how we’re able to help packaging companies and brand owners to successfully navigate those complexities.”
