formnext 2018: Stratasys showcases latest additive manufacturing solutions
16 Oct 2018 10:25

The acceleration towards new additive manufacturing innovations will be a key focus of the Stratasys stand (Hall 3.1, Stand G40) at this year’s formnext show (13-16 November 2018, Frankfurt Messe). Stratasys will showcase newly advanced additive manufacturing solutions that specifically address requirements of customers across a broad range of industries – driving new transformations in design and manufacturing workflows.

Highlighting its newest material and application advancements, Stratasys’ stand will incorporate four distinct focus areas – concept modelling, prototyping, tooling and final part production. Each area will feature a wide range of parts and customer use cases, demonstrating the value proposition of Stratasys additive manufacturing to drive efficiencies throughout the product development cycle.

Production Applications Today, Not Tomorrow

Visitors to the Manufacturing Corner will learn how businesses like Siemens Mobility are leveraging Stratasys FDM additive manufacturing to produce one-off, customized tools for the production floor on-demand, as well as 3D printing spare parts for direct use in vehicle interiors. Improving lead times per part of up to 95%, FDM additive manufacturing eliminates requirements for storage of excess parts – resulting in the most digitalized rail maintenance depot currently in operation.

Durable yet lightweight FDM materials used by automotive and aerospace companies will also be highlighted. Stratasys’ industry-proven Fortus range of 3D Printers will be on display, notably the recently-announced Fortus 380mc Carbon Fiber Edition. Containing 35% chopped carbon-fibre, Nylon 12CF is strong enough to replace metal, allowing designers to develop more practical and functional designs. Stratasys will demonstrate how the impressive mechanical properties of FDM Nylon 12CF enable engineers to explore the transition from traditional metal parts to 3D printed plastic composites.

A Solution for the End-to-End Prototyping Workflow

Reflecting the continued importance of 3D printing for rapid prototyping, Stratasys will showcase its breadth of solutions aimed to meet the needs of the full prototyping workflow. Whether it be concept modelling, design verification or fully-functional prototyping, visitors to the stand will learn how businesses can reduce lead times and costs by integrating Stratasys 3D printing across the design process.

Visitors to the stand will learn how world-leading manufacturers are maximizing the potential of the world’s only multi-material, full-color 3D printer, the Stratasys J750. With the ability to produce complex, color, multi-assembly prototypes in a single print, these companies are significantly reducing their design processes. The Prototyping Area will also house Stratasys’ easy-to-use F123 Series, ideal for office spaces and design workgroups. The widely-acclaimed range of FDM 3D printers received over 1000 orders in its first 6 months.

Latest Developments on Metal 3D Printing and More

For the first time at a European trade show, Stratasys will outline the latest developments surrounding its metal 3D printing technology – with new application parts in the stand’s Innovation Area. Also on display will be an array of parts produced on the Robotic Composite 3D Demonstrator, the visionary Stratasys production system developed in close collaboration with Siemens. It offers manufacturers the capability to print composite parts faster than ever before with an 8-axis motion system – and uniquely – without the need for support material.
